Buju Banton Imminent Music Release. Teaser Suggests Artiste Remains Guarded.

Being incarcerated for almost 10 years, for a crime one vehemently denies committing, would change a man’s life forever. Mark Myrie, the man many know and easily refer to as Buju Banton, is yet to officially speak to any media house in the aftermath of his release from US prison. Ten months ago, Buju felt freedom once again and since that time, like a bird released from a cage, the ‘Optimistic Soul’ singer has unceasingly sung – his spirit soaring most when on stage, with mic in hand.

On the weekend, Buju and a cast of other powerful Caribbean entertainers including Bunji Garlin and Fay Ann Lyons, performed for a massive crowd at Dominica’s World Creole Festival. On the heels of that, he’s unleashed a teaser video for a brand new single with Dave Kelly, one of the most successful dancehall producers in Jamaica. Kelly is known for producing Cham’s international hit, ‘Ghetto Story,’ which was later remixed by RnB hit maker, Alicia Keys. He’s also credited as the creator of the Showtime riddim- a widely popular riddim in the Caribbean. The teaser hears Buju’s vocals behind an echoing sentiment, ‘mi no trust phone,’ something that can be easily believed, considering the fact that the artist has maintained that he was entrapped ten years ago.

The latest piece of musical work will follow four singles done by Buju since his release. ‘Pay The Price’, ‘Country for Sale’, ‘Holy Ground’ and Holy Mountain, which also features Jamaica’s Sizzla Kalonji and Mavado. The latter two singles form part of DJ Khaled’s ‘Father of Asahd’ album which was released in May this year.
